A practical guide

Use your own AI. Keep the work in Good Hello.

If you already use an AI agent to plan campaigns or write copy, connect it to Good Hello. It can save your work and use the product’s tools through a local MCP connection or the command line.

The client still uses relay, relay-mcp and relay_* tool names for compatibility.

Before you start

You need an existing account, membership of your organisation and Node.js 22 or later. For MCP, your AI app must support a local stdio connection. Installing the client does not create an account.

Codex has a supported setup path. Support in other apps depends on their local MCP connection options. A hosted chat does not automatically have access to these tools.

The easiest setup

Open Settings, Local AI agents and choose Copy AI setup prompt (free). Paste it into your local agent. The prompt includes your organisation and asks the agent to install, connect and verify the client without spending tokens or changing campaign data.

You will still approve the connection yourself in the app.

Set it up from the terminal

1. Install the client

npm install -g https://app.usegoodhello.com/downloads/relaycollabs-agent-1.0.2.tgz

If your computer already has a different tool called relay, use the setup prompt to avoid replacing it.

2. Connect your organisation

Choose an unused profile name for this organisation:

relay login --profile my-business

Open the browser link, check the matching code and select the right organisation. Choose read-only access or permission to make changes. Connections last 30 or 90 days and can be revoked in Settings.

Check the connection:

relay whoami --profile my-business
relay instructions

3. Add the connection to your AI app

relay mcp-config --profile my-business

Add the returned entry to your app’s local MCP settings, then reconnect it. Ask your agent to read the product’s instructions and use relay_context to confirm the organisation. A saved configuration entry alone does not prove the connection works.

For Codex, the setup prompt also provides the codex mcp add instructions and finds the absolute executable paths your installation needs.

What is free, and what uses tokens?

TaskToken cost
Connect, inspect commands and read saved workFree
Save supplied campaign details, message copy or a new publication draftFree
Upload or import existing media into the Studio libraryFree
Ask Good Hello to discover people, enrich research or generate contentQuoted token price
Send eligible replies, transfer media to the publishing service or schedule postsQuoted token price

Using MCP or the CLI adds no Rae conversation fee. Your AI provider’s pricing and plan limits still apply.

For example, your AI can write a caption and save a publication draft in Good Hello for free. Transferring its media to the publishing service and scheduling it are separate paid actions. Editing an existing Studio post is also free; that command does not create a new Studio post.

Check the action before it runs

Explore the available commands and their inputs:

relay list --search campaign --profile my-business
relay describe campaign.save --profile my-business

Changes return a proposal with the exact action and price. Your agent can approve steps you have already authorised. Paid actions keep their normal token price. Automatic replies follow the settings and ongoing usage you enable, rather than waiting for approval each time.

If a connection drops, check the saved request or proposal before retrying. A queued job is still in progress.

Disconnect when you need to

Revoke the connection in Local AI agents settings, or run:

relay logout --profile my-business
